SVC-08 · Car Park Lining

Car park lining

Impermeable lining for permeable car parks and SuDS pavements.

Where the ground can't take the water, a permeable car park needs a lined sub-base: the paving lets the rain through, the aggregate stores it, and a welded membrane keeps it out of the ground until it's released to the drainage at a controlled rate. We line the formation with protection fleece and a heat-welded impermeable membrane, seal every outlet, and hand over with the weld records.

Car Park Lining in short

A lined car park is a permeable pavement whose sub-base sits on an impermeable membrane, storing rainwater and releasing it to the drainage at a controlled rate where the ground cannot take it. Aquatech Civils lines the formation with protection geotextile and a heat-welded membrane, records a test weld on every job and seals every outlet, then hands over with the weld records, ready for the sub-base and paving.

The system

What's in the package

One team from supply to handover documentation.

  1. Formation check before we start
  2. Protection geotextile below and above the liner
  3. Impermeable membrane, heat-welded on site
  4. Outlet and penetration detailing
  5. Weld test records and handover documentation

How it goes in

Installation process

  1. 01

    PH-01

    Formation check

Your groundworker excavates and trims the formation to the design falls. We check it before we start — level, free of sharp stones, falling to the outlets — and tell you straight if it isn't ready.

  2. 02

    PH-02

    Protection fleece

A non-woven protection geotextile goes down across the base and up the sides, so neither the formation nor the sub-base can puncture the liner.

  3. 03

    PH-03

    Deployment & welding

The impermeable membrane is laid in panels and heat-welded on site — no taped joints — with a test weld recorded on every job.

  4. 04

    PH-04

    Outlets & edges

Outlets, overflows and any service penetrations are sealed into the liner, and the edges are dressed up to the design level.

  5. 05

    PH-05

    Cover fleece & handover

An upper geotextile protects the membrane before the sub-base goes in. We hand over with the weld records; your contractor then places the sub-base and paving.

Frequently asked questions

When the ground can't safely take the water — clay, contaminated land, a high water table, or too close to foundations — the drainage design calls for a lined system. The sub-base then works like an attenuation tank under the paving: it stores the storm and releases it to the drainage at a controlled rate instead of letting it soak away.

No. We line the formation and hand it over; your groundworker places the sub-base and the paving to the design. We'll work to your programme so the liner is covered promptly after it's laid.

Welded. Every joint is heat-welded on site, with a recorded test weld, so the liner is one continuous sheet under the whole car park. Tape relies on adhesive holding under load for decades; a weld doesn't.

Yes — where the sub-base alone can't hold the design volume, crates are often built in beneath the car park. We install both, so the lining and the tank are one system with one set of records.
