Who uses them in the borough
Golf clubs are the obvious customers. A course needs a lot of water for greens and tees in a dry summer, and a steel tank fed from a borehole, a pond or the clubhouse roof keeps that supply on hand without digging a reservoir.
A borehole pump tends to deliver slowly and steadily, while the greens want a lot of water in a short evening window. The tank bridges the two: it fills all day and empties fast when the sprinklers run. Beyond golf, the uses spread out across the borough:
- Pitch irrigation for sports clubs and school grounds
- Nurseries and garden centres watering stock under glass and outdoors
- Stable yards and riding schools storing water for arenas and wash-down
- Vehicle wash-down at depots around the airport and the M42
- Harvested roof water on business park offices and warehouses
