What we did
Protective 300g/m² geotextile fleece below and above a 1mm HDPE impermeable membrane, the membrane welded panel to panel, joints sealed and quality checked across the full basin.
The tricky bits
Scale. A lined area this size needs the membrane deployment planned in detail, and HDPE rolls of this weight and width need specialist lifting equipment — all while meeting the environmental requirements and the budget.
What we delivered
A fully sealed, durable attenuation pond serving the drainage needs of the development, delivered on schedule.
What the basin does
The pond is part of the development's surface water strategy. It stores runoff from the homes and releases it at a controlled rate, to meet the site's drainage and planning requirements over the life of the development.
Handling the liner
1mm HDPE comes in heavy, wide rolls, and over 3,500m² there are a lot of them. Specialist membrane lifting and handling equipment let the crew place large sections accurately, without damaging or distorting the liner, which cut the installation time.
