Attenuation tank installer in Bradford

We install attenuation tanks across Bradford district, from mill-site regeneration in Manningham and Shipley to hillside plots towards Haworth and Wharfedale, with membranes welded and tested in Pennine weather.

Drainage on the Pennine edge

Bradford sits on the eastern slopes of the Pennines, where rain comes off the hills quickly into Bradford Beck and on to the Aire. Sloping sites and hard surfaces speed that up, so planning conditions on new development generally limit how fast water can leave, and the drainage design adds storage to cope.

Approved Document H and the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 sit behind those conditions, and the 2025 national SuDS standards set out what's expected on major schemes. Your engineer designs to them; we build the tank they design.

Welding membranes in Pennine weather

A heat weld is only as good as the conditions it was made in. Wet, cold and windy days are common up here, and membrane has to be clean and dry at the seam for a weld to fuse properly. We use calibrated welding equipment, prepare and dry each joint before welding it, and make a test weld on site that proves the settings on the day. That test is recorded before the tank is covered.

Tape doesn't solve bad weather. Adhesive struggles to bond to a damp sheet and then has to hold underground for decades. We never tape a joint.

Mill sites, hillsides and stepped plots

Regeneration around Manningham, Shipley and the Canal Road corridor often means building on old mill and yard land, with tight boundaries and old services in the ground. Housing on the edge of the district, out towards Queensbury, Denholme and Wharfedale, is more often on sloping fields.

Mill sites often sit in the valley bottoms beside the becks, so the tank can end up close to the water it is there to protect. Either way the groundworker excavates to the engineer's levels. We look over the formation before we start and say so if it isn't ready, then fleece, line and weld it, build the crate block to the designed volume and seal each connection through the wrap.

Supply, install and handover

The design stays with your engineer and the digging with your groundworker. What we bring to a Bradford tank:

  • Supply and install, or install-only with crates you've already bought.
  • Crates to the loading class and depth of cover your engineer specifies.
  • Weld test record, as-built details and QA sign-off at handover.
  • Covered from our Tamworth base, alongside Leeds and the rest of Yorkshire.

Frequently asked questions

We weld when the seam can be kept clean and dry, and we record a test weld to prove the settings on the day. If conditions won't allow a sound weld, we wait rather than tape.

Yes. On rural sites the tank may release water to a beck at a controlled rate instead of to a sewer. The engineer sets that rate; we build the tank and its flow control to suit.

Yes. Wharfedale drains to the Wharfe rather than the Aire, but the job is the same: the engineer sets the volume and release rate, and we build and test the tank to match.

Yes. Where the design steps the tank or sets it into a slope, the groundworker forms each level and we line and build to it, with the membrane welded continuously across the changes in level.
